Matt Jones is apparently not a big believer in the “looks like a pile of cocaine in my car, smells like a pile of cocaine in my car, might actually be a pile of cocaine in my car” theory. Either that or he knows just how gosh darn good our country’s legal system is to rich celebrities.
I say that because today he entered a big ole’ fat “Not Guilty” plea in the state Arkansas’ case against him.
The 25-year-old Jones, a former Arkansas Razorback quarterback who was taken in the first round by Jacksonville in 2005, was arrested July 10 when a Fayetteville police officer saw him inside a car allegedly cutting up cocaine with a credit card.
Jones’ father, Steve, has denied the cocaine was in his son’s possession.
He acknowledged it was in the vehicle, however, and in “closest proximity to Matt.”
Ah. That old chestnut. You’ll never guess what happens when a rich athlete and a friend are in a car and they get busted with a bunch of blow in there. No, actually you’re wrong. It’s the that gets in trouble.Continue Reading
