Contrary to what we previously learned, Fred Taylor has not actually been arrested. He has been misbehaving, it appears, but not physically placed in handcuffs nor taken downtown to be processed. From his attorney, Adam Swickle, via Michael Wright of J-ville.com:
It’s nothing more than a ticket, just like if you were pulled over for speeding or pulled over with a problem with your license and they give you a date and a time and a document to appear,” Swickle said. “He was never formally arrested, never booked, didn’t post a bond and he has not been charged with anything. We’re pretty confident obviously that he won’t be charged with anything.I can tell you, there is no way he could’ve been arrested because he never would have been given a notice to appear.
Well, I suppose that’s good. But trouble is trouble. And I don’t necessarily agree — in principle, not in technical legal analysis — that getting a disorderly ticket is on the same level of getting a speeding ticket, only because it probably would have resulted in an arrest if he wasn’t really famous.
