--SLB Rashad Jeanty (foot) did not practice Thursday after being limited in Wednesday's practice.

--DT Domata Peko (ankle) returned to practice Thursday.

--WR Glenn Holt (chest) continued to be limited in practice Thursday.

--TE Ben Utecht (chest) practiced Thursday and is expected to play Sunday.

--QB Carson Palmer (right elbow) is resting this week and is out for the Jaguars. The next hope for him to play is Nov. 16 against the Eagles, after the bye Nov. 9.

--WR Andre Caldwell (foot) is out.

--WR Jerome Simpson (ankle) is out.

GAME PLAN: Broken record time. The Bengals need to run the ball to take pressure off the pass offense and keep the defense off the field. The Bengals have averaged just 26:51 in possession time. The Bengals are allowing 50 percent (55 of 109) of third-down conversions as a defense. Not good. Jacksonville will want to run the ball against the Bengals and open up play-action passing lanes.

MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Jaguars RBs Fred Taylor and Maurice Jones-Drew vs. Bengals rush defense. Jacksonville has a one-two punch on the backfield that averages 116 yards a game on the ground. Injuries have carved up a strong defensive line. Still, Jones-Drew has 330 rushing yards on 77 carries with five touchdowns, including a long run of 46 for a touchdown. Taylor is still a threat with 266 yards on 80 attempts. The Bengals did a decent job against a solid Houston rush offense and will face another challenge Sunday. The Bengals are 28th against the run at 146.9 yards a game.

Bengals RB Cedric Benson vs. Jaguars rush defense. On the surface, the Bengals had their best rushing game of the season. But quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick had 42 of those yards on seven scrambles. Otherwise, the Bengals rushed 15 times for 63 yards. They fell behind by two-plus scores early in the third quarter against the Texans and had to pass more frequently. Cedric Benson has supplanted Chris Perry, who has not had a rush attempt in the past two games. The Jaguars are ranked 17th against the rush, and tackle John Henderson has a back problem. End Paul Spicer is a holdover from the Tom Coughlin era. The line is not as dominant as it once was, as evidenced by the 4.4-yard rush average against.

INJURY IMPACT: Like most NFL teams, the Bengals are dealing with several injuries that might cause players to miss some practice time but not the game. It's important for them to have starting defensive tackle Domata Peko, who missed practice Wednesday because of an ankle injury, on the field against the Jaguars run game.
