Chris Perry has gone from starter to phantom in the Bengals backfield. But he could reappear Sunday against the Eagles. Starter Cedric Benson was added to the injury report Thursday with a back injury and did not practice.
In six starts, Perry -- the Bengals' first-round pick in 2004 -- had 96 rushing attempts for 253 yards and two touchdowns. The highlight of his season was Game 3 at the Giants, when he ran 20 times for 74 yards, including a 25-yard touchdown.
But since a fumble at Dallas -- his third lost fumble of five this season -- Perry lost his starting job to newcomer Cedric Benson. Benson peeled off the team's first 100-yard rushing performance of the season in Week 9 against Jacksonville.
Perry has not had a rushing attempt in the past three games. The only time he has touched the ball was on a 10-yard reception against Jacksonville.

GAME PLAN: The 5-4 Eagles are looking ahead to their rematch with the Giants. Coach Andy Reid said his team will not look past the 1-8 Bengals and went out of his way Wednesday to compliment the Bengals' coaching and talent. The Bengals will need turnovers from the stingy Eagles to have a chance to win their second in a row. The Bengals are 29-5 under head coach Marvin Lewis with a plus-turnover differential but 5-29 with a minus-differential. They are 9-12 when turnovers are even. The Eagles pride themselves on protecting the ball and forcing turnovers. They will throw the ball early and often against the Bengals, who had better manage a pass rush against Donovan McNabb; the Eagles have allowed just 13 sacks.
MATCHUPS TO WATCH: Bengals RB Cedric Benson vs. Eagles run defense. In two of their four losses, the Eagles allowed 213 yards rushing to Washington and 219 to the Giants on Sunday night. Ideally, the Eagles like to stop the run on first and second down, and then crafty defensive coordinator Jim Johnson likes to unload the blitz. Philadelphia's front four is relatively small, especially at end, including former UC star Trent Cole. The Eagles like their big trio of linebackers, starting with Stewart Bradley in the middle, the best for Philadelphia at that position since Jeremiah Trotter was in his prime. Benson has run 51 times for 204 yards in his three starts, including 104 against Jacksonville.
Eagles WR DeSean Jackson vs. Bengals pass defense. Taken No. 49 overall, Jackson leads the team with 38 receptions and 586 yards. Thought to be too small at 175 pounds, Jackson was drafted two spots after the Bengals took wide receiver Jerome Simpson, who has one catch. Running back Michael Westbrook has 29 receptions, two for touchdowns. Wide receivers Kevin Curtis (sports hernia) and Reggie Brown (groin, hamstring) are back after missing several games. Quarterback Donovan McNabb is his typically efficient self; he is 199-for-324 passing for 2,372 yards, nine touchdowns and five interceptions. His passer rating is 90.7. He has been a slow starter in the past two, though, going 3-for-13 passing against Seattle to open the game and 2-for-9 passing against the Giants before heating up.
INJURY IMPACT: The Bengals are likely to be without rookie wide receivers Jerome Simpson (ankle) and Andre Caldwell (foot) against the Eagles.
Quarterback Carson Palmer (right elbow) is out, meaning Ryan Fitzpatrick will get his fifth consecutive start.
The Bengals are relatively healthy coming off their bye.
Safety Chinedum Ndukwe (foot) was rested Wednesday, but he is expected to play Sunday.
